Riccardo Rosati
Prof. Riccardo Rosati graduated at the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1980 with
honours. Residency in General Surgery was at the Department of Surgery, University of Milan from
1980 to 1985 when he specialized in General Surgery. In 1988 a second specialization in
Thoraco-Pulmonary Surgery was achieved at the University of Turin School of Medicine. He worked as
Assistant at the General Surgery Department of the University of Milan headed by Prof. Giuseppe
Pezzuoli from 1980 to 1992 and from 1992 to 1996 at the Department of General and Oncologic Surgery
of the University of Milan, chaired by Prof. Alberto Peracchia. Since 1996 he is Director of the
Department of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Istituto Clinico Humanitas.
Since 2006 he is Professor of Surgery at the University of Milan School of Medicine. Since 2009 he
is Director of the CURE (University Center for Research and care of Esophagogastric diseases),
center of the University of Milan for research and cure of the esophageal and gastric diseases. He
is member of many international scientific societies including: the American College of Surgeons,
the International College of Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the
European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, the European Surgical Association, and the
International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus. On a national basis he is member of the
Italian Society of Surgery and the Italian Society of Hospital Surgeons. Prof. Rosati has extensive
experience in both open and minimally invasive surgery of the digestive tract, especially in the
field of esophageal diseases. He has given lectures on this topic and performed live surgical
procedures at many international meetings, congresses and courses. In the department he chairs,
colorectal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and endocrine diseases are treated as well both with
open and minimally invasive approach. Prof. Rosati is actively involved in clinical practice,
research and development of new minimally invasive surgical procedures. At the Istituto Clinico
Humanitas, the Division headed by Prof. Rosati has treated more than 15,000 surgical cases. Prof.
Rosati is author of over 250 scientific publications. |
